​Our Mission

Play is powerful--it's vital to every child's physical, emotional, social and intellectual development.  And every child deserves access to the benefits it provides.  Many face barriers that exclude them from the play they need.  The Souders Community Playground Project was created with a mission: to build a physically accessible, sensory-rich playground that welcomes kids of all abilities to learn and grow together.  Our vision is to offer equal opportunities for play to all children in our community today and leave a legacy of inclusion for tomorrow.



Why We Need An Inclusive

& Accessible Playground

An inclusive, accessible playground benefits everyone.  It allows all children to play with one another and creates a sense of community.  Children with disabilities receive the same developmental benefits of play as their peers, and children without disabilities develop healthy concepts of diversity and acceptance.  And every child enjoys the opportunity to exercise, which is essential to the formula for good health now and wellness for a lifetime.  A playground that is designed for all children in our student body, our school district, and our community will extend opportunities for learning beyond the classroom and provide a crucial component of a healthy school environment that will help our kids thrive physically, emotionally and socially.
